Home Up

Orange and Black

This is Orange and Black.  They are 5 1/2 months old and are brother (Orange) and sister (Black).  They are both “fixed” and have their shots. They have been together since birth and are good buds.  How did they come to be?

A black cat, little, scrawny, and clearly desperate shows up at my front door more screeching than meowing.  Two things are obvious.  She has kittens and she is starving.  She won’t let me within four feet.  She would back off but always faced me and kept screeching at me.  I went and got some of my dog food and brought it to her.  She gobbled all of it, hissing, growling and swiping at me if I tried to touch her.  The second she finished she turned and disappeared.  Next morning she was there at my door.  She was silent and just stared at me.  I went and got more dog food.  So began a sojourn.  One morning, about three weeks latter, I knew the kittens where there.  I couldn’t see them but I could feel them watching me.  Slowly they revealed themselves.  There where six of them.  I tried to befriend them, but all but one remained wild.  The one is Strips, my beautiful tabby.  The others drifted off slowly but surely.  Every once in awhile one or two would show up and I would feed them.

One morning the one I called Patches was there at my door.  She was hungry, and obviously pregnant.  There are many, many wild cats in my neighborhood.  I decided her kittens where not going to add to the wild and desperate cat population. I was going to catch her, let her have her kittens, find them good homes and get her fixed.  I tricked her into my house and kept her there.  One Sunday, at three in the morning, little tiny meows behind the headboard of my bed woke me up - three, then four, then five.  I have found good homes for three of them.  Orange and Black still need a good home.  I say a good home because they really should stay together.  They are good buds.  They are great cats; friendly, fun loving, adventurous, and a general pain in the butt.  But, anyone who loves cats will love these two.  They are CAT personified.
